a handsome ginger tom with amber eyes[break]
Sorrelwhisker comes off as an incredibly sociable cat, getting along with just about anyone he meets. He is always happy to strike up a conversation and share tongues with his Clanmates, using an almost noble demeanor as a descendant of Orchidstar in order to present himself as someone that others can trust and confide. He is incredibly ambitious, intelligent and observant, quick on his feet to adjust to the world around him. He admits to holding some pride due to his lineage, which can even come off as humbleness.[break]
[break]
Though, underneath it all is a very different cat. Truth be told, Sorrelwhisker holds all these traits as a deceptive form to who he wants to be: an authoritarian leader. He wishes to hold as much power as possible, and isn't afraid of doing terrible things in order to achieve those goals. He is happy to lie, cheat and deceive those around him, make them open up and trust him so they tell him the secrets he needs to know and use it against them.[break]
[break]
Though he can come off as caring towards those around him, especially those who he would likely deem as "lesser" than him, he is ultimately a self-centered cat. It does not take much for him to see a cat as lesser, and in Sorrelwhisker's perspective, just about anyone and everyone is lesser than him. He knows that he would be a much better leader than those in charge, but he does his best to keep those things quietly to himself, knowing that it would not serve him to bad mouth leaders aloud. While he might work to sew seeds of doubt in the heads of those around him, he knows he must do these things carefully in order to get what he wants in the end.
Though of average size and stature with perhaps a slight bit of slimness from his hunting prowess, Sorrelwhisker is still a rather handsome cat by most standards. With a bright ginger coat and striking amber eyes, he does his best to care for his fur and keep himself tidy and in order. He believes that he has some superiority to him due to being a descendant of Orchidstar, and as such, knows that he must keep himself proper and tidy both in his general appearance and in the way he holds and carries himself.[break]
[break]
Yet, with fake humility, Sorrelwhisker will still carry himself in a way that can exude both pride and openness. Yes, he does think that the cats should see him as great, but he will still work to occasionally make himself smaller than he believes himself to be in order to make cats feel that they can approach him. It is a fine line that he walks between holding himself in a way to make cats see him as an authority figure, but not one that they cannot trust and confide in. He is deliberate in every paw step, tail and ear twitch that he makes, to come across as the cat he desires to seem like.

Brook-kit, Sorrelkit and Halfkit were born to Stemstep and Spottediris, and were the first great-grandchildren of the prominent Orchidstar. Though the kits were born long after the death of Orchidstar, their great-grandfather's presence could be felt amongst the kits in various ways.[break]
[break]
Unfortunately, their lives would be struck by tragedy early on. When they less than two moons old, the three of them were excitedly playing with one another in the camp, playing a classic game where one kit each played a founding leader - though they always fought over who would get to play their own ancestor, Orchidstar. From somewhere in the camp, the cry was announced that an eagle was circling the air above the camp, clearly ready to dive bomb.[break]
[break]
[break]
The kits' personalities quickly exploded after this incident, having watched their father die fighting an eagle that had tried to carry off his daughter. Halfkit, the youngest, was clearly the most affected by the sight, becoming incredibly jumpy and skittish. Brook-kit, the eldest, stepped up quickly in order to help comfort his sister, as well as their grieving mother, Spottediris, despite his young age. Sorrelkit seemed to grow very charismatic, playing with other kits in the nursery and making friends, which the other queens also assumed was his way of denial although he had already accepted the fact that his father was dead.[break]
[break]
Soon enough, life moved on, and the kits became apprentices. Sorrelpaw was assigned to the Clan's deputy at the time, Houndlarch. He already found himself full of pride to think that he would be the deputy's apprentice, and saw it as perhaps the first sign from StarClan that he was meant for greatness. Surely, StarClan - and maybe even Orchidstar himself - had told Swallowstar to assign Sorrelpaw with a mentor that would help him achieve leadership.[break]
[break]
On his first day of training, Houndlarch had been taking Sorrelpaw around the territory in order to help him find his footing and ease him into things. But very quickly, the scent of a mouse distracted him. Despite his mentor warning him to stay focused, Sorrelpaw ran off after the scent of the mouse, a desire overtaking him and forcing him to chase after the rodent.[break]
[break]
[break]
It was clear from the get-go that of any skill, Sorrelpaw excelled at hunting. He rarely needed much instruction on how to improve his form, keep himself quieter, or anything of the sort. The second his eyes locked on what he was hunting, it was over for that piece of prey. While he didn't seem to struggle too much when it came to other skills, it did not take much time to hone his hunting skills. He was encouraged by Houndlarch to work even harder and take on more difficult prey. Simultaneously, Sorrelpaw would often ask Houndlarch for tips not on how to be a better warrior, but how he could become deputy and one day leader. After all, being a leader ran in his blood, did it not? His mentor often amused these questions, answering them as they came up on how he became deputy in his own right, and that with enough work, perhaps Sorrelpaw could, in fact, get there one day, too.[break]
[break]
Sorrelwhisker would gain his warrior name in honour of his fantastic hunting skills alongside his newly named littermates: Brookglade and Halfdaisy. Sorrelwhisker quickly did what he could to get along with his Clanmates and proving himself a helping hand whenever possible. He happily would step forward to talk to the elders and give them company, getting fresh moss for queens and giving pointers to some of the apprentices. More or less, he spent his time schmoozing with the cats around him, trying to butter them all up and see him as a noble young cat, always happy to give someone a shoulder to lean or cry on.[break]
[break]
[break]
The two of them quickly picked up a bit of a rivalry between them, though perhaps only one side saw it as good-natured fun compared to the other, who was often rubbed the wrong way by refusing to call her by her warrior name. Sorrelwhisker didn't stop though, hoping that with time she might grow to enjoy the name. It also carried an undertone of ideally showing Swallowstar and Houndlarch that perhaps someone who struggled to get along with all her Clanmates might not be as great of a choice. Regardless, Sorrelwhisker almost enjoyed spending his time with Morningglow.[break]
[break]
When his former mentor grew ill, though, Sorrelwhisker could feel himself growing more tense. This was the moment he was waiting for. He had properly trained just one apprentice, now a warrior by the name of Palecloud, but that was enough to make him qualified for the position. He tried to up how much he was helping around the camp, but it turned out all for naught when Houndlarch passed and Morningglow was chosen as OrchidClan's new deputy.[break]
[break]
There was a deep frustration in the tom. Had StarClan decided that he was no longer the rightful future leader of OrchidClan? Why did Orchidstar not show Swallowstar a sign that he was the correct choice? He did everything he could to swallow his pride, and even made sure to congratulate Morningglow, still teasingly refusing to call her anything other than "Sunshine".[break]
[break]
When Swallowstar started to grow older and older, it was soon a competition between Sorrelwhisker and Bullwasp, one of the larger toms in OrchidClan. Yet, he still acted with humility when the newly named Morningstar named Bullwasp as her deputy. With such a choice, Sorrelwhisker realized that matters would soon enough need to be taken into his own paws. He knew StarClan wanted him chosen, but perhaps OrchidClan's leaders were just blind to the obvious choice. He knew that he would need to find a new way to rise to power, no matter what it might take.

[break]
"Brook-kit! Sorrelkit! Halfkit!" A voice shrieked. The three kits turned their heads towards the nursery to see Spottediris crying out for her kits, calling them back towards her as fast as they could.[break][break]
[break]
Brook-kit was the first to catch what was going on. The small tom looked up, seeing the bird of prey and beginning to corral his littermates. "Run!" the kit screamed.[break]
[break]
The three kits immediately took to running. Never had the distance between their play spot and the nursery felt so far before, but it felt as though it were taking forever before they could find safety. In the panicked running, a squeak was heard behind Sorrelkit. He turned around to see that his sister, Halfkit, had begun to tumble. His heart raced, but Brook-kit pushed him on. Instead, as the two finally made it to the nursery, they turned in time to see a tom - their father, Stemstep - racing out towards his daughter. He threw himself overtop of the kit before turning around to see the eagle coming down towards him.[break]
[break]
"Halfkit! Run!" Stemstep ordered as he scratched out at the bird nearly twice his size. By the time that Halfkit made it back to the nursery, another scream echoed through the camp. Everyone watched as the eagle got its beak into the throat of the OrchidClan warrior, an attempt to free itself from his battle. When Stemstep fell back and the eagle was able to free its wings, it took to the skies.[break]
[break]
Left in the center of the camp lay a bleeding warrior, struggling to catch his breath as the blood soaked into his fur. Sorrelkit could hear nothing but his mother screaming behind him as queens tried to hold her back until they knew it was safe. But Spottediris won the battle, crying as she ran to the side of her dying mate as everyone watched on helplessly.

[break]
"Sorrelpaw, get back here!" Houndlarch called after his apprentice, but it was too late. Sorrelpaw was dashing through the trees after the scent, as though it were calling after him.[break][break]
[break]
It wasn't far before the ginger apprentice caught sight of the mouse. He crouched down, as though he already knew everything he needed to do. He was locked in on the little creature, watching its whiskers twitch as it dug through the leaves around it.[break]
[break]
"Sorrelpaw, where are you?" Houndlarch's voice cut through the trees. The mouse perked its head up, clearly ready to dive off at the sound of trouble, but Sorrelpaw wouldn't let it get away so easily. Instead, the apprentice pounced, catching the mouse's tail before it could get away. Squirming under his grasp, Sorrelpaw threw his other paw on top of its body before beginning to crush it underneath him. The rodent squeaked and squealed. The apprentice wanted to play with his prey more, knowing he had won the battle, but eventually, as he heard his mentor approaching, leaned down and cracked its neck.[break]
[break]
"Sorrelpaw!" The deputy's voice cracked like a whip. Sorrelpaw turned around, holding the mouse in his maw by its tail, the body dangling below his chin. "I told you not to run off like that," Houndlarch scolded.[break]
[break]
Sorrelpaw bowed his head and dropped the mouse down between his own paws. "I caught the mouse," he said.[break]
[break]
Houndlarch gave a small huff. "So you did."

[break]
"So, a little birdie told me that you're aiming to be leader some day. Is that true, Sunshine?" Sorrelwhisker said to a newly named Morningglow, purring as he spoke. He'd seen the young she-cat give it her all as an apprentice, and his estimate certainly couldn't be too far off.[break][break]
[break]
The brown-and-white she-cat momentarily flattened her ears. "My name is Morningglow," she responded.[break]
[break]
Sorrelwhisker chuckled good-naturedly. "I think Sunshine suits you better," he said with a wink, noticing that she didn't beat the allegation.

The two of them quickly picked up a bit of a rivalry between them, though perhaps only one side saw it as good-natured fun compared to the other, who was often rubbed the wrong way by refusing to call her by her warrior name.
