[attr="class","pinscroll"] While there were some residual anxieties that Minnowpool had about the state of all the clans and what that in itself meant for Shoreclan, she had accepted to some degree it was not her job to worry about those things. Her job was as a warrior, and now, as a mentor. The sun began its overhead arch, not quite having reached its zenith in the sky just yet. It was still morning, and while the sun’s rays had burned away the earlier fog that had rolled in from the ocean, Minnowpool had told herself to wait until it was completely gone – she didn’t want anything possibly obscuring the path down to the beach on this day. A tumble from the narrow trail snaking down the cliffs didn’t seem like a good time, and more so, she did not want to risk it with a cat that wasn’t wholly experienced with the trek down. Recent rains had made the trail a bit soggy, loosening some of the gravel from its position and pushing it into the cliff face with a thousand pressing paws. It would be easy enough to slip, and she did not want to risk her apprentice’s – or her own – legs by having possible lingering fog, making it difficult to see as it hugged the cliff face. [break][break]
Below, the ocean’s wave crashed onto the beach, hissing in some places as it slithered back out, rolling over rocks, shells, and sand. Clumps of seaweed were left behind in the wake, and branches from some distant place spit back up onto the shore were littered around. Crabs scurried about, waving their pinching arms at seabirds that threatened a washed-up fish, unaware that the birds were not after the fish but their own tough-shelled bodies. Minnowpool could almost chuckle at the scene as she reached the bottom, turning to wait for Kestrelpaw to finish picking her way down the trail. [break][break]
Once the smaller cat was at the bottom, Minnowpool murmured a quiet ‘this way’ and began leading the way down the beach toward a stretch of large boulders. It was the perfect place to get some training started, but first, Minnowpool wanted to utilize the tidepools that would be found there while the tide was still freshly receded out. It was a multi-purpose kind of day. [break][break]
