sparrowclaw (he/him) | galeclan
Sparrowclaw wasn't even a senior warrior, but leading a patrol with cats younger than half his age certainly didn't help him. He had just finished being a mentor, having watched Nutriabite finally get her warrior name and finally getting her out of his fur. Of course, he had also somewhat appreciated having the apprentice as an excuse for Frozenkingdom trying to get him to slow down, or Foxtail bothering him to hang out. But kitsitting still was never his favourite way to spend his evenings.
Unfortunately, he was worried he was going to have to keep a close eye on Applecrisp. The she-cat was known for not being able to pay close attention and allowing her mind to wander off away from the task at hand. Thankfully, the other patrol companion, Webdance, was far more perceptive.
And, best of all, both cats were quiet.
Sparrowclaw had to admit he was thankful for what would likely be a quiet patrol. No unneccesary small talk that made him want to vomit, trying to talk about the weather or about what the kits were up to. Nothing gave the tabby tom a bigger headache than trying to balance being "polite" and being honest about wanting to just tell everyone to shut up. He didn't want to listen to their voices and listen to them get distracted from the task at hand.
Border patrols were important, as much as he knew cats were often blasé about them. If no Clans were at war, what did it matter, right? But there was more than checking scent markers when it came to border patrols. It was making sure that predators weren't nearby, making sure that loners were staying out of the borders - which needed a strong ear in particular as many loners were smart enough to stay out of sight of oncoming patrols. Sparrowclaw had heard of a loner who'd been making his rounds through the territories lately, apparently acting rather indifferent to understanding how Clans worked.
He was leading them around the southern border towards ShoreClan, knowing this would also be the best way for Webdance to be able to keep her good eye on the outside most naturally and keep her blind side in towards GaleClan territory. He also put Applecrisp in the middle of the walking order, trusting Webdance to make sure that the calico didn't either stop or wander off. Naturally, Sparrowclaw took the front of the walking order, silently keeping an eye out as they came up to ShoreClan territory. "ShoreClan coming up," Sparrowclaw announced, something he knew wasn't necessary, but was at least needed to help change the attitude of the patrol from a casual stroll along the waterfront to needing to start marking and keep an eye out for any potential threats.
