He’s much calmer than the oddity that is his father, Cavernpelt, while still holding a somewhat odd view of the world around him. Shortwave tends to hide this a little better, most thinking he’s a fairly average warrior, rather than the slightly unhinged creature that he is inside his own mind. [break][break] Shortwave is an intelligent feline, there’s no question to be had about it. He’s quick-witted, and borders on harboring a silver tongue, being something of a charmer when he wants to be. It’s easy for him to get others to like him, although he doesn’t use this personality trait in a manipulative way — he mostly just uses it to create friends. [break][break] Inwardly, Shortwave’s mind is a chaotic place, constantly switching from topic to topic, and he struggles immensely not to show this outwardly — his attention span is almost non-existent, but he does a good job of faking it until he makes it, most of the time. Those who know him well know this fact about him, but the average Galeclanner, and especially cats outside of the clan would not know this simple fact about Shortwave. He’s spacy, but instead of looking out of it, his expression turns something more stoic, and serious, getting him classed as a stern-looking cat, when in actuality, he simply isn’t paying an ounce of attention. [break][break] Being serious, in a genuine manner is something that Shortwave struggles with. He prefers to lay on the charm, and humor, rather than taking a situation seriously, more often than not being known to make comments under his breath that are, at times, quite out of left field. He comes off as cocky and almost arrogant at times, even though the arrogance is merely a consequence of the perception of others, rather than an actual trait of his. Although he does quite border on it. While his methods are all over the place, he is a very witty cat - but you may not notice when he's spaced out since he holds himself so well composed.[break][break] APPEARANCE [break]A typical-looking white-and-gray tabby, Shortwave is an unassuming-looking cat. He isn’t large by any standard of measure, appearing almost small in many aspects. He is often noted as being handsome, although his appearance takes more after his mother than the uniqueness of his father. His coat is thin but soft, and never really looks thick. He does harbor his father’s deep vocals, however, sounding almost identical to the older tom, save for a few speech patterns that give him his own vocal identity. His eyes are far less expressive than most and appear to the world in an almost cool yellow tone, the shade of some leaves in Leaffall. He was known as something of an escape artist, getting out of the camp several times, during his moons in the nursery. [break][break] His apprenticeship proved that Shortwave didn’t excel in much, beyond fighting, where he has a particular drive to do well in. Much like his father, he picked up tactics on his own, that were not taught to him, learning to fight dirty rather than with any formal etiquette. [break][break] In his time as a warrior, Shortwave has proven himself a formidable fighter, despite his lack of impressive stature. He is a quick, agile thing, and he tends to pass that, and his unique fighting style, along to the few apprentices he’s had. [break][break] |
