Personality

Fawnflower acts as a true mother hen would. When it comes to the young ones around her, she is maternal, patient and kind. She treats every kit that comes through the nursery as one of her own, refusing to let them see any sort of darkness in the world around them while they are still young. She loves watching kits enter this world and helping queens through their kitting, whether they are young and it is their first time, or they are experienced and just needing a kind presence. She loves taking care of the kits when the mothers need a moment alone. She loves listening to the stories that the kits tell and watching them play and learn about the world around them and what OrchidClan can become when they grow up to help mold it into their own futures.

That being said, Fawnflower hasn't had kits of her own in quite some time, and has become more fearful of doing so. Having lost two kits and both mates, she has become paranoid that perhaps she has been cursed by StarClan to never feel the love of another cat by her side. She fears that if she were to take on a third mate, something terrible would happen to them, and can sometimes fear getting too close to others.

Fawnflower also acts very different around warriors, apprentices and other grown cats than she does around kits and queens. She does not stand down when she has an opinion that needs to be voiced and can be quite stubborn for what she believes is best. After all, kits are the future of the Clan, and she refuses to see any harm come to the nursery. She does not fear standing up to the leader - especially as long as the leader is her younger sister, Morningstar. When Fawnflower knows what she wants, she will stop at nothing to get it, particularly when it comes to the safety of the future of OrchidClan.

Description

Fawnflower is not the largest or strongest of cats when it comes to her physical stature, though she can certainly seem large and strong when it comes to other areas. When it comes to standing up for what she believes to be the most vulnerable members of OrchidClan, she will stand up to be the strongest and largest she-cat to come through the territories. Sometimes this appearance also takes effect when a kit is misbehaving and she needs to set them straight for their own safety.

Fawnflower is also a rather pretty cat in terms of appearance. She embraces femininity to take good care of her fur when she has a moment's peace - rare as those moments sometimes come. She her light brown fur along most of her body with dark black stripes creating a tabby appearance. Her muzzle, chest, underbelly, paws and tail tip are all a pristine white. No cat could ever figure out how a she-cat constantly admist dirty kits could keep her fur so white, but she does it. Her eyes are a beautiful, kind green, easy to get lost in when she puts on her kindly mom voice. The way that Fawnflower carries herself makes it easy for others to feel put at ease near her, acting as a mother for not just kits who have become orphaned, but even for apprentices and warriors whose mothers are no longer around or were never emotionally there for them in the first place.

history

The only she-kit in the litter of three, Fawnkit was born to the young OrchidClan couple of Tulipbreeze and Gladewhisper, barely out of apprenticehood by the time they had their own kits. Fawnkit was born alongside her brothers Possumkit and Salamanderkit, and thankfully, despite their parents' young age, were all born quite strong and healthy - a good sign for their futures, no doubt.

From the beginning, Fawnkit always admired her parents. Even in kithood, she wanted to grow up to be a mother just like Tulipbreeze and love her own kits the way that her mother loved her and her brothers. She saw a great pride in being a queen and raising the next generation of warriors who could serve their Clan. She would act like a mother to Possumkit and Salamanderkit from an early age when her mother wasn't around to do the job or just needed a break. This was perhaps a bit to their annoyance, but it was quite clear from an early age the exact kind of cat Fawnkit would grow up to be.

Once she became an apprentice, she was assigned to a she-cat by the name of Lavendercloud. She was incredibly gentle and kind-hearted, patient with the fact that Fawnpaw did not show much desire to become a warrior. She learned what she needed to learn, but did not seem very keen on her training sessions. Realizing what Fawnpaw wanted to do more than anything, Lavendercloud was the one who pulled the apprentice aside and told her that even if she were to permanently move into the nursery after earning her name, she would need to learn to fight. After all, it was entirely possible that rogues or an attacking Clan might breech the camp, and she would be in charge of protecting her kits even to her own death.

With such a sight in mind, Fawnpaw took to her training with a whole new dedication and light. She found new things that she constantly wanted to learn, such as learning every bit of the territory inside and out in case she needed to run and find safety with kits. She leaned how to fight and learned that rogues do not fight fair and learned how best to detect how new a fox's scent should be before she needed to be worried. She even tried to bother the medicine cat occassionally just to learn where to find some various herbs in case of an emergency.

As an apprentice, Fawnpaw also began to form a friendship with a warrior only a few moons older than her by the name of Rookclaw. He was a fantastic hunter, and incredibly kind. When Fawnflower gained her warrior name, of course being named for her maternal nature, she approached Rookclaw openly and earnestly and told him that she wanted more than anything to be a mother, and she would be honoured if he would father her first litter.

Only a moon after Tulipbreeze gave birth to her second litter and Fawnflower's siblings, Fawnflower gave birth to a single kit named Privetkit. At first, Fawnflower was thrilled by the sight of her daughter holding relationships with her "aunts" Morningkit and Eventidekit being more akin to littermates. But when Privetkit was only three moons old, Rookclaw was greivously injured during a scuffle with rogues gone wrong, and within a moon, the wound did not heal properly and the tom lost his life. After that, Fawnflower became increasingly more protective of her only kit, even with Morningkit and Eventidekit.

But with time, Privetkit would become Privetpaw, and Fawnflower would be forced to leave her nursery nest. That being said, she often would not attend to regular warrior duties, but would instead find herself visiting the nursery to see the kits there and to lend a helping paw where she could. She started to help out the queens who were nervous about certain things about their kits, as well as trying to answer questions before the queens would nervously run to the medicine cat and demand help for something that was not an issue. Ultimately, Fawnflower would occassionally sleep in her old nest, and found herself abandoning warrior duties altogether in order to help around in the nursery.

Another tom took notice of Fawnflower's work in the nursery, and was often coming by to help make sure she ate and took care of herself while she was tending to other queens and kits. Falconpelt managed to squeeze himself into Fawnflower's life, and before long, she would be giving birth to her second, albeit most difficult litter.

The first kit in the litter came out breech, and unfortunately could not be saved in time before suffocating. The second and third kits went much smoother, and the fourth kit would be born stillborn. The birth had been quite difficult and ultimately traumatic for Fawnflower, losing two out of four of her kits in an incredibly long night. Though she struggled with it, Falconpelt still urged her to name her two passed kits so that they could move onto StarClan with names to them, and would not be forgotten as they did not deserve to disappear altogether. So she named the first kit Palekit, the two survivng she-kits would be Rootkit and Acaciakit, and then the stillborn kit would be named Garlickit.

Almost as soon as Acaciapaw and Rootpaw became apprentices, Fawnflower found herself pregnant once again, giving her plenty reason to stay sleeping in her usual nest. She tried to become more proactive in the nursery, caring for other kits and queens and assisting the medicine cat, Iceeyes, who she had known for most of her life. As Iceeyes had helped Fawnflower quite a bit during her difficult kitting, she constantly tried to be a help in Iceeyes's life, not just by being eyes for the blind medicine cat, but by trying to make things easier for her without getting too much in her way.

A moon after Acaciapaw and Rootpaw's apprentice ceremonies, news would return to camp that Acaciapaw and Falconpelt had been out on the river when the ice broke, taking them underneath. Unable to break out of the ice, they would be swept away and drowned, leaving Rootpaw the only survivor of the litter, and leaving Fawnflower without a mate once again, this time before she could even give birth.

It was around this time that Fawnflower became more paranoid that StarClan did not want her to be a queen. Having lost two mates and three kits, she feared that perhaps being a queen was not the world she was supposed to be living, no matter how much she desired it. Her first daughter, now a warrior by the name of Privetface, would return to console her mother and remind her of all the good that she had done for the nursery. So with that, Fawnflower gave birth to two toms, whom she would name Falconkit and Rook-kit after her two lost mates, and would tell her sons about the great toms who made her life so fantastic and led to their own lives.

Though she has not taken a mate since her last litter, Fawnflower continues to care for queens and kits in the nursery, adopting kits who have been orphaned and acting as an aunt-figure for any young cats in OrchidClan.
