Cobwebs. Cobwebs. You're being asked to find cobwebs, Dips, you can do this.
Cobwebs were the one thing Ice-eyes tended to ask Dipperpaw to find most often. While he was learning where he could find every find of herb and berry, cobwebs were the one thing that Dipperpaw had the advantage in finding. Unlike herbs and berries, cobwebs didn't really have any sort of scent, and spiders weren't really all that loud, so a blind cat like Ice-eyes couldn't find them with the same amount of speed and efficiency. Or, at least, that's what she said to probably make Dipperpaw feel a little better and more useful.
He didn't mind it too terribly though. Dipperpaw loved his alone time, away from the hustle and bustle of camp, and away from the crying cats in pain and sickness in the medicine cat's den. He loved walking around and being able to identify all of the plants on his own. And while he didn't always love to admit it, he found a strange affinity for being able to identify the poisonous flowers and berries best. What a life that must be, to be left alone for the knowledge of animals everywhere that your consumption would kill them. No one would ever bother you! Dipperpaw longed for a time when he could decorate his den in poisonous flowers and berries, so cats wouldn't bother him anymore. He knew they would have to come talk to him occassionally, but hopefully the sight of foxglove, saffron and hemlock would make them think twice about seeking help for something like a thorn stuck in their pawpad.
Focus, Dips.
Right, he was doing something important out here.
He hoped that Ice-eyes was prepared for Dipperpaw to take a little extra time.
She probably was. She always seemed to be patient with the black and white apprentice, whose thoughts were also quite often black and white. He was always in a state of fight or flight, in which his preferred choice was always flight. It was nice, especially in comparison to cats like Frozenkingdom, who Dipperpaw had met a smattering of times, and felt as though the GaleClan medicine cat hated him. He seemed to have an air of callousness, and looked at Dipperpaw as though he wouldn't survive a day under his tutelage.
He was probably right.
Dipperpaw gave a shiver before returning to his work. Cobwebs. Right. Find some cobwebs for Ice-eyes.
